Comic Book Law School®: Let's Get It Started

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

A very good place to start...to start learning how to protect your intellectual property rights, that is! New convention! New city! Same dynamic format! This installment of the popular Comic Book Law School series will provide a basic foundation for understanding copyright and trademark law through an interactive lecture, and is brought to you by noted attorney Michael Lovitz, author of The Trademark and Copyright Book comic book. This workshop will cover the basics of protection and ownership of ideas, works of authorship, characters, names and logos, from conception through publication and beyond. Attendees will participate in an interactive discussion about basic rights provided under U.S. copyright and trademark laws, as well as the registration process for each, and maybe even stray into the realms of contracts and new media. Along the way, there will be plenty to learn about the protections available, as well as the numerous potential pitfalls, under the U.S. trademark and copyright systems. Please Note: The Comic Book Law School seminars are designed to provide relevant information and practice tips to practicing attorneys, as well as practical tips to creators and other professionals who may wish to attend. However, the seminar is presented for information and entertainment purposes only, and the information presented and opinions expressed at the seminars do not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such.
